The Bad and the Ugly.
Has Holly and Bollywood taken a vow to make yawners. It has been 4 weeks and the oly good movie I have watched in BLACK. One classic. It is supposed to be inspired from a 1961 hollywood movie Miracle Worker (1962). this is one of those movies which would force you to think about the lives of the disabled. incrediblke acting, direction, everything. Oscar class. But dont know if inspired movies are eligible for oscars. Are they?
And ofcourse there are other movies that would force you to think. To think about what made you think that the movie would be good. Aviator and then Constantine.
Sandeeps recommendation - Aviator. One load of crap. history it is. Howard Hues was impressive when I watched him on History Channel. But a 3 hour long movie on one man's insanity and obsession would easily put an owl to sleep.
And then last night I watched Constantine. 'I am Constantine, John Constantine'. Like - Nanna hesaru Das. Parameshwar Das'. So? Anyway, Chili's recommendation. Constantine. Despite 1* on TOI I went to watch the movie. And what more, I made akshat and Priyatosh watch it. It is about this guy who has visited Hell and is back. He is sending the demons and the half breeds to hell to get his ticket to heaven. Story is fine. the problem is, I cannot point out one particular thing in the movie that forced me to sleep. A real bad ending to a relatively nice weekend. I came back at 2am on the monday morning.
come on guys, you were lying. You did not like the movie, did you?

Horror is a genre of movies that needs the viewer to be keenly attuned. And Biblical horror is even more so.
Constantine was one such movie - no stupid action, no senseless stunts, etc.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!
The ending where the original fallen angel - Lucifer - loses out on John because of his sacrifice, and then prevents him from going to heaven by removing his cancer - simply awesome!!!
